Green Bay Police Arrest Howard Man for Multiple Vehicle Thefts by Fraud

Green Bay Police Arrest Howard Man for Multiple Vehicle Thefts by Fraud

Green Bay, WI - At approximately 3 pm on 8/30/2018, Green Bay Police were dispatched to the lobby of the police department for the report of an auto theft.

Throughout the course of the investigation, it appears the suspect, James Nys of Howard, asks to test drive a vehicle that is being privately sold. He either agrees to buy the vehicle, but never pays anything for it, or he leaves another vehicle behind as "collateral". Nys later returns to pick up the collateral vehicle he leaves behind during the test drive.

At this point, police are still trying to determine what has happened to the multiple vehicles Mr. Nys has allegedly stolen. It appears that Nys has only targeted members of the Hispanic community. As of today, several victims have been identified. If anybody feels they may be a victim of this suspect, please contact your local law enforcement agency.

Nys, 26, was taken into custody by Green Bay Police Department and has been booked into the Brown County Jail on charges of Theft - False Representation (Fraud/Swindle) and a Misdemeanor Probation Violation from a 2016 domestic abuse incident.
